I will try to post the article tonight- I am goofing off at work and the mag is at home. The actual testing occured on an oval track and with an open wheel car- I forget which one. Of course the technique changes from car to car, turn to turn and race to race. I am a middle of the pack racer- and chase around in my spec miata more than my 911 lately. I found the article, and this thread, interesting as I was always "taught" that slow in fast out wins. At least in their hands, their car and their track the slow in fast out was the slowest method EVERY LAP. They did 10 lap averages, and sifo lost EVERY lap- if my failing memory is correct. I do trail brake the miata a lot, have to maintain momentum. I was usually trailing off the brakes as I turned in with the 911- I respected the rear end of the 911 more. TTO is a hoot in the correct turn- like the hairpin at sebring. Again, this article has me planning some test days with data acquisition trying the inside radius line as well as some early shallow turn in and trail braking to get around the corner.
got to get faster
