I could be wrong, but I suspect that maybe unless you do 100% of the work yourself (i.e. body & paint as well as mechanicals), a full "nut and bolt" resto will cost you well over $10-12K. It sounds as if you're looking to build a "concours" quality car. Unless you are really itching for that 2-3 year project, it might be better to spend the ~$8-10K to buy a "nearly done" car and then finish it up to your taste. Just a thought...
