Okay, bear with me on this one.
Recent (and not so recent) news reports have described the actions of a handful of prison guards in Abu Grahib and Gitmo. These guards were discovered to be abusing prisoners with various techniques of torture and/or humiliation. The guards who were found guilty of such behaviour have been tried or are awaiting trial for their actions and are being punished accordingly. But, because of the actions of these few individuals, some have made the determination that ALL military people are the same. They are all guilty of some form of "crime" or another. This point has been argued/discussed/debated in several arenas, including this one.
Now, jumping back to this article. Would it be a safe assumption, according to the people who have condemned ALL military personel for the actions of a small few, to say that PETA is an organization that is nothing but a bunch of cold-hearted animal killers. According to this article,
"Local officials and veterinarians said they were told that PETA would find homes for the animals, not euthanize them. PETA has scheduled a news conference for Friday afternoon to discuss the charges."
Maybe we should send anyone associated with PETA to Gitmo or Abu Grahib so they can see what humane treatment is all about.
