I did the 320i front conversion on my '74 and the braking difference was tremendous. I highly recommend it.
The machining part is really very simple so don't panic. about 1/16th of an inch has to be ground off the place where the attaching bolts go thru. The machining is done on the inside edge and on my 320i calipers, there was a casting mark (looked kind of like a seam) right where the grinding had to be done. I did it my self on a bench grinder and I've been using them for about 3 years now.
It's probably best to have the machining done at a machine shop. I did my own without any problems but a shop is probably more precise.
