Just something I've noticed about Porsche clubs.......
My first P-car was a 912 - cries of "VW" from 911 owners.
I wanted something peppier and took the plunge into a 911.
Many thousands of dollars later, I decided that the car cost way too much to maintain for a car with poor rear stability on wet pavement (England) and dumped the 911. The 911 was considered a PORSCHE by everyone, despite the obvious VW Beetle stuff (sorry guys)
Came back to the US full-time and bought a 914 2.0....again, cries of "VW" from P-car enthusiasts.
Bought a 924 off of eBay, never drove the thing, but I heard cries of "VW/Audi"
The 944......I've heard all kinds of cries about the 944...."VW/Audi" etc
So, I'm guessing that (with a few exceptions), 911 owners don't like the fact that there are any other cars out there carrying the Porsche crest. I trully believe that if the 944, 912, 914 and 924's were all faster, and cost within a few thousand of the 911 when they were new, everyone would consider them true Porsche cars
Just my 2¢
