You might want to see if there is a weld supply house close and lug the whole thing over there and see what the people say. If the welder is real old, then the cables and wiring could be really deteriorated and you could get a good shock if you use it. Of course they may want to sell you a new one, but the place I deal with is pretty honest and would just as well sell me the parts as they did with an old Sears welder I was given. Good luck.
