Rental car for sure. The trains won't go where you want, when you want, and you won't be able to put all your stuff in the trunk of the train.
It's also not much cheaper to go by train. A 2-week Eurail pass is liable to work out about the same as a 2-week car rental (or at least it did for me, a month ago).
