Can the bikers hear vehicles approach? Not the loud cars and trucks, but the quiet minivan or sedan. I get trained regularly in the Smith Driving System and they tell us to "alert the cyclist" by hitting the horn as we get near. I don't do it because IMO, it may startle the rider or they may think I am telling them to "get off the road".
What do you prefer? Toot or no toot?
