80 years ago we had great mass transit infrastucture in this country.
But certain companies wanted to sell more tires, cars and petroleum products.
So Firestone, GM and Standard Oil formed trusts that bought up most of the trolley lines and converted them to bus lines even though the trollies were efficient and profitable.
