Indeed. It’s a shame there can’t be more regenerative discourse such as the examples provided by our tribunes of positiveness on the Jacobin side, including but not limited to Howard Dean, who claims (each day, it seems) that his political opponents are evil, Julianne Malveaux, who wishes Clarence Thomas "would die," Janeanne Garofolo, who wishes George Bush would, Paul Begala, who asserts the Right is trying to kill him, the New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Boston Globe and media outlets ad nauseum whose adolescent operating credo seems to be “stop the world, disregard our storied reputations for good journalism, today we have a chance to derail the Bush presidency," and the umpteen million minions of moveon dot org tripping over each other with hate and making a splendid public spectacle of themselves in the process. Now that may not inspire in the traditional sense, but it sure does set an awfully high standard of persistent negativity in the face of poor ratings. Where's the payoff, they must be asking.
