It all depends on which car we are talking about. My efforts have mostly been on the 944.

I think a couple of months of real world testing, you know driving in traffic, etc... a few months of that in the Florida heat should be a good real world test. The unit is as solid as anything on the market, I am more interested in being better and seeing how the whole setup performs daily.

The unit is basically good to go as is, its the mounts and all the associated hardware that I want to give a better finish to. I am going for that it came from the factory look. I might settle for just a nice clean look.

The short answer is a couple of months give or take.
