Heck, even the "lowly" 914 performs better than the 928 if you are talking about quick transitions. Which is, as my "esteemed" 914 colleagues have just pointed out, what autoX is all about.

A buddy of mine had a 94 (?) 928 GT. Heckuva car. Got up and moved. Sailed through long sweepers very nicely. Made lovely V8 racket while doing so. Did not like rapid changes of direction, and felt (and was!) very heavy compared to my 914.
You're right, I was too harsh on the 914. As a 928 owner, I was once again annoyed with the typical lack of respect that the 928 receives, especially from the 911 crowd, and it set me off. Obviously the 914 has some excellent handling qualities due to its low CG, mid-engine layout, and light weight. But how many of them are winning AX's in stock form? Every one I've ever seen that performed well was highly modified. In that form, one might question whether it's really a 914 anymore. But still, I have no doubt that even a stock one is fun to drive. Just not my cup of tea. Apologies to 914 owners.

Hell, I'll wave at anybody. I'm just happy you're in a Porsche.
