Yes, there is oil in Africa, just not so sure if it really is more viable than the Middle East. Most of it can be found in countries with "exceptionally good" governments, like Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Angola.
Just this past weekend, the son of EGs dictator was here in South Africa, where he blew in excess of US$1.5M on exotic cars, whilst his countrymen survive on less than a dollar a day.
