Since this board is so diverse I thought I'd post here...

Father-in-law has a 3,000 acre ranch. I get lost in my backyard. I need to be able to find my way to any of ~30 different spots spread around the ranch, and back again using the existing "roads" which crisscross the land - 1/2 the time in darkness.

I already have a couple gps units - which work fine for going out and coming back. But, that only works if I know where I'm going and I need much more...

I would like to make a "map" of the property which would include all the roads and trails, around 20 fields, and the 30 (or so) specific points along these road/trails & fields. I'd like to be able to pick one of these 30 points and have my gps guide me, via roads/trails, to that point.

Is it possible to do this? Can anyone recommend good software? Any pointers?
