In my humble view. the 911 series as we know it ended with the '89 Carrera. Some might say it ended earlier, some later. I personally have no use for the 964. The 993 on the other hand is, I believe, destined for icon-status. It is a gorgeous car to look at, and the last of the air-cooled engines. The '97 TT model makes as much power as a new 997 Turbo, I think.
But again, the 911 was produced from about 1965 until 1989. The parts are all interchangeable. In fact, most of the parts are the SAME EXACT. Starting in 1990, many of the parts are different. And then the 993 is a whole different breed of cat.
My dream car would be a galvanized tub with just a few things bolted on. 21/19 Tbars, shocks to match, race buckets, engine and transmission (3.6 VRam). For a daily driver, a 993.
