1989 was the first year for the newer 964 body style in the form of the (4WD) Carrera 4. Both the Carrera (3.2L) and the Carrera 4 (3.6L) were available that year. So, there will be lots of conflicting part #'s for the 1989 model year. That is a great year 911 (last of the 3.2L Carreras), but it can be a pain when ordering or looking up parts. When I had my `89 3.2L, I would always specify parts for a 1988 when ordering stuff (if I didn't have a part # handy) so there was no confusion, and to avoid getting a box of 964 parts.
