Any 928 lover (or Porsche lover in general) should get their hands on a copy of Project 928; the book covers not only the development of the 928 with lots of cool pics, but also the general tone of the industry and Porsche at the time of the 928's development and introduction.
As for the PCA, I enjoyed membership with the Oregon Region for several years as a 928 owner. Sure, there were a few air-cooled owners who "seemed" snobby toward the water-pumpers; but I didn't join for their approval and I suspect it was more ignorance toward the model or dis-interest on their part. Some folks are just single model enthusiasts, others are single brand, others are anything with wheels.
The PCA is like any club, you get out of it what you put in. I left PCA membership simple because I wasn't finding the time to attend and enjoy membership, probable going to join the fray again in my new local even tho the local region looks small.
