It depends greatly on where you are.
If you are in/near CA the parts aren't worth quite as much, BUT there are a lot more people with 914's out there, hence a greater chance of finding someone to buy the stuff.
Anywhere else in the country the parts are worth more but you will most likly have to ship them to people, and if they need to be shipped that puts you in competition with CA.
Look at the Pelican cassifieds and the ones on the 914 club web site (the 914 club ones are older and have arcives of old ads). This will give you a general idea of what parts sell and for how much. Only thing is, expect to sit on the parts for awhile (like at least a year), and unless the interior is in great shape it isn't worth much. It's all the traffic will bear, and it is a buyers market also.
I found a 72 1.7L all original with the apperence group (chrome and fog lights) but rusty for about half of what your guy is asking. The motor still runs, and the doors and front clip (the interior was about perfect) were in good shape.
Unless you can check the compression on the motor, or take of a head, $600 is too much. At least see if you can turn the motor over by hand.
