You did the right thing !

IMO both the dog and the moron owner should be shot. Nothing I genuinely hate more than dogs coming charging toward me and my kids, jumping up in their face. Me totally loosing it with the owner, kicking them both just to hear the stupid mother f%&# cry - Ohh but she is such a nice dog, she just want to play and say hello to your (now terrified)children. She has never bitten anyone. - Perhaps not yet, you dumb bugger..
