The new concept cars look great. But the real thing looks better. I'd much rather get an old 60's or 70's coupe that lacks all the hemi stuff and is thus hopefully still affordable, then stuff in a motor and other go-fast stuff. You'd get a muscle car experience that's way more authentic than the new concept cars and and way more affordable than the mega-buck collector muscle cars.
By the way, I think the $1MM+ muscle cars are money waiting to be lost. Do you remember Ferrari prices in the late 1980s? 15 years later, those buyers have still lost 2/3rds of their money.
Edit: Just looked at eBay and it appears you can buy 1971-1973 Challengers all day for $15-20K. I guess they're not authentic versions of the exact models the collectors want and will pay $70K+++ for. But can't you buy a lot of Detroit motor for $20K?
