The 75-76 ignition locks do indeed "go in" when you turn them. My 74 has a later lock on it, and it does this very thing. No problem so far with "it won't crank", and it's been that way for longer than I've owned the car. The center can stick in the "in" position when I turn the engine off every once in a while, though, so I cannot get the key out until I wiggle it.
