Hi Jon,
A standard tripod works fine. The transmitter has a "camera" mount in the bottom so it screws right on. Depending on the track, I sometimes just put the transmitter right on the wall.
I now have the 8 foot cables in stock. I could get you a 10 foot cable if you should need it.
