There is another technique that they theorized might have been used at Stonehenge. It involves building a set of wood rails, greasing them with butter and then sliding the blocks on the rails.
Apparently it works well and there is at least some archeological evidence to back up the technique.
BTW: If you've ever been to Stonehenge, you will realize the REAL MYSTERY is why the Brits put the highway so close to a national treasure.
