fuel pump plumbing question

The guy who sold my 3.0 to me included this fuel pump that he claimed was used with the engine previously. I'm putting it in my '72 and have a couple of questions.
1) I assume that the left side is the inlet (low pressure) and the right goes to the engine via the accumulator. What's up with that fitting on the right side? Do I need a special fitting and/or line to the accumulator?
2) Has anyone else done this swap and did you mount the 3.0/CIS pump where the stock MFI pump was previously?
3) If so, how do you handle the 180 degree inlet issue? Or is it easier to just mount it somewhere else?
Thanks in advance.
