A few months after I got my 911 my wife started in with this stuff too. Everytime she wanted some extra cash she'd start picking on my car - "if you didn't spend 20k on that thing we could buy xyz...blah blah..."
I finally got fed up and reminded her that I have done everything for her and the kids...supported them financially (sole breadwinner) and emotionally, and that I rarely spent anything on myself. I said something like that after all these years of sacrifices for the fam that I deserve my one toy and I don't want her stomping on my dream car anymore.

So for the past year she has not said one more thing about it...and yes, we are still on good terms with each other.
