Well; I agree he certainly doesn't deserve to be shot BUT he is in a park frequented by young children and frankly idiots who do not know that gators are extremely dangerous because they aren't in these parts. In florida most folks understand that Gators are bad news to mess with; here we don't have them so the public at large don't know that via common sense (which isn't so common).

I personally feel they should not be wasting money on trying to capture it alive. They have spent 10s of thousands of $$$ and come up with nothing but a scared gator. The dude who abandoned it in the lake should be liable for that money and should be charged criminally for the death of it after it is shot to save the public good.

Right now they are trying to capture it to put it in a Zoo (they want the LA Zoo but I think I read that the LA Zoo has no room for it).

It's bad publicity but dammit it isn't the government's fault that this guy put an alligator in the lake. HE is the one to blame whether the gator lives or dies.
