They did after they were sued. I dont know when Tokai was sued by Gibson or when the 'Les Paul' name was replaced with 'Love Rock' but it had to be sometime between '80 and '84. The earliest serial number range Ive seen for the Tokai clones is from '77 so there are many of them that say 'Les Paul' instead of 'Love Rock'

Here's a headstock from a 1980 'Reborn' thats on the bay right now.



Im not a guru on the subject of these guitars or anything, but the 'Reborn' guitars were supposed to be dead nuts accurate knock offs of the unobtainable '58-'59 Les Pauls. Even the current manufacture lower end Japanese guitars are closer to the real thing than what Gibson is selling these days.
