Ok, I have a doozy...

A few years ago I was at a flea market, and spied a nice old wooden trunk. I was looking for one for my boating gear... sails, anchor, ropes etc. This one was perfect, a couple compartments and seemed nice and sturdy. I closed the lid to see what the top looked like, and noticed a name painted on it...
"Capt. J.P. Palmer".
Whoa, too weird, I thought. My name is Jake Palmer, and this was for my boat so the "Capt." part was really cool.
So I buy the thing for $35, and take it home. A couple nights later, I was talking to my dad on the phone and mentioned the trunk.
He asked, "Is it grey?" Yup.
"Does it have angle iron corners?" Yup
"Does it have white numbers on the side?" Yup

"That's your grandfather's trunk from WWII... it was accidentally thrown out in spring clean up in 1981, in Ottawa."

Ottawa is about 800 miles away, and I bought it 15 years later in my hometown, the town my grandfather lived in most of his life. A few weeks later I went back to the guy I bought it from, and asked him where he got it, apparently he found it in the ditch.
