I had no idea you could get that far on a gallon with one of those hogs.

I have a 2004 Chevy pickup with canopy and v-8. I drove it from just north of Portland, Oregon to Reno, Nevada last fall and got an average of 21 MPG. I was not driving slow, but I did set the cruise around 75 for most of the trip.

Since the day I got it, it has a combined average mileage (per the car's computer) of about 16 mpg. That includes a short stint with a 26' toy hauler on the back and many short trips with at 25' boat hooked up. The big hogs are not as bad as they used to be.

As a comparison, my Valkyrie gets between 20 an 40 mpg with a motor pretty close in design to my '80 SC, which appears to be getting around 17 average. IT does need a tune up, so my mileage may vary.

Today regular at the cheapest station in town (Safeway) was at $2.97.
