Listened to an interview with the Mayor of NO this morning. Pretty amazing to hear, and more than enough to make me sit back and shut up. Obviously, it's all too easy for people like me to watch the news and make bold declarations about how it is, or how it ought to be.

Primarily, the interview conveyed a deep sense of desparation. It truly is a horrific situation, and my heart goes out to anyone in the area, or anyone with family in the area.

I just can't imagine how awful it would be, as an official, to have to call off search & rescue operation in order to deal with looters & thugs. What an aweful decision to have to make.
