Exactly.
My father-in-law was flying on one of these airlines once in the mid-70's (minus the bad weather). He mentioned to the flight attendent that he was a pilot (at the time). The captain came back and invited him up to the cockpit. Once there, he ask my father-in-law if he'd like to take the stick for awhile. He did. Flew the rest of the flight until final approach.
