Tabs, those prewar national match guns are something special. I'll give you that. You must be high if you think the current reissue 70 series guns are inferior to the orginal 70 series. Ive owned a pretty good sampling of Colts and none of the production guns Ive seen, shot, handled, or personally owned were consistently on par with the guns that Colt has been making for the last 3 or 4 years. You dont honestly believe that the machine tools and manufacturing process controls used to bild these guns have gotten worse or more inconsistent since the sixties do you?
Also, Forged vs. Cast frames is totally different discussion, but please please show me a picture or give me a serial number of a Colt that was made on a cast steel frame? Even the wretched big rollmarked 1991A1 guns (which can be made just as nice as any other 1911 with a lot of work) used forged frames.
