Hmmm...not entirely true. Two weeks ago, I was at Fontana - about thirty miles inland from L.A. - for the NASCAR race. The crowd, while decidedly cliche (I guess) of being redneck, was incredibly well behaved. No fights. No beer or chicken bone throwing as I've been told happens at NASCAR events...
Now contrast that to an L.A. Raiders game (when we
had the Raiders), or a Lakers' game (when we
had Shaq), and you'll see at least a half-dozen fights in and around the stands.
