The Pennsylvania Game Commission has issued so many doe licenses in the past few years that the deer are getting rare. The trade-off was a promise of larger buck racks, which has come to pass. They say that this works for a number of reasons. but I suspect that lumber and auto insurance interests are behind it. Doesn't bother me as I quit hunting the deer years ago.
We spend some of our weekends with the springer trying to kick-out some grouse-and actually drop one sometimes. As most experienced hunters will admit, it is the anticipation and the actual hunt which is the deal- not the meat.
