I was in a salt min in Windsor Ontario about 1000 feet under the Detroit River when the 911 hit in NY. We heard about it down there but no communication with the surface we could not confirm it was true until we surfaced at 4:30 pm. What a reality check.

At 1000 ft below the river they are mining 60' wide veins in a huge grid leaving 60' squares of earth to support the ground above. Mining down there with GPS they can cut to within 6" to the International border between the 2 countries.

Very cool to see but after 4 days down there thanks but no thanks, I'm a carpenter I like the fresh air and sunshine.
