Powell is a good guy, smart, could handle it. The only reason the dems like him is because he's made a few statements about the war that they agree with. They don't agree with all of his views on the war, just enough to make it look ilke there's some dissention within Bush's cabinet.

Actually, this "dem" was seriously disappointed he didn't run in 2000. Would've voted for him over Gore. I suspect many feel the same.
So I think your theory may be just a bit off.....
