Octane Mixing

I have a very basic question for those familiar with petroleum products. Can one mix octanes similar to mixing of oil viscosities? Given the following scenario:

87 octane @ $2.69/gal
89 octane @ $2.79/gal
93 octane @ $2.89/gal

In order to save money and achieve the higher octane while having a larger volume can I purchase one gallon of 87 octane and one gallon of 93 octane to create a octane mixture of (87+93)/2 = 90 octane which will cost ($2.69+2.89)/2 = $2.79 gallon?

This is non Porsche related so please no comments about me being cheap (which I am) - I am simply curious if the octanes can mix in this fashion.
