I've read the Excellence article referred to earlier in the thread. While they found the new 996 Turbo or GT2 ( I forget which they tested it against) to clearly be faster (duh.), they found the looks and driving experience of the 959 to be superior.
Turbo's are run-of-the-mill cars, the 959 was once king. No comparison. It even won Paris-Dakar. The looks may be dated in the photographs, however, it is said that in person it is stunning.
