OK. I've been watching the first season on DVD...but still it seems I have managed to miss somethings. Hopefully you guys can fill me in.
1. The Galactica has BOTH Viper Mk 1 and Viper Mk 7s. I know where they got the Mk1s from...they were part of the museum display. And I know where they got at least 1 Mk7 from...it was Apollo's. But where did the rest of the Mk 7's come from??
I even know where Gehta and Baltar upload the non-sobotaged navigation software into the Mk7s...but I must have been out of the room when they acquired the Viper 7s.
2. It is freaky how Sharon "wakes up" from being a cylon and has no idea what she's done....or at least is not willing to admit it to herself. Can't believe the chief didn't figure this one out earlier...or maybe he was not willing to admit it to himself either. BTW: THis was wierd in it's own right. A couple of C4 bombs blow a huge hole in the ship while a 50 Kiloton cylon doesn't seem to do nearly a proportionate amount of damage.
One hole in the plot here: Adama knows the cylons look human, yet short of telling Baltar to work on a cylon detector, he has done nothing to improve internal security. Sharon just walked into the arms locker and stole the detonators.
3. In the show "33" there was a gaping hole in the plot. The fleet is jumping every 33 minutes, and every 33 minutes the cylons show up. Finally, the 33 minute deadline passes but no cylons show up. Instead of jumping AGAIN, presumably to get out of range and to an unknown location, they hang around. Of course this was necessary to drive the plot, but I was just wondering if the writers ever gave an explanation that maybe I missed.
Eventually, they do jump again, but the cylons do not follow, presumably because the Olympic Star was destroyed and this was the ship they were tracking.
4. Are all the 12 colonies in the same solar system? After watching the mini-series it certainly seemed that way. However, I hadn't seen the miniseries before and I had the pre-conception that the 12 colonies were in 12 different solar systems. Hence the map room scene on Kobol where they look up and "see the stars of the brothers" in the constellations.
Furthermore, 12 habitable terrestrial planets in the same solar system seems to be a statistical impossibility. So I was kind suprised to see this played out that the 12 colonies were all in the same solar system. They never actually SAID this was the case, but it seemed to be hinted at.
5. In the miniseries we see Tigh marking off how many glasses of scotch/whiskey/golden brown fluid he has left. He's got FIVE. Sorry, but this guy would lose the alcholism real fast. He'd run out in a day or two. He didn't discover that they were making moonshine onboard until almost the last episode of this season which is MONTHS later. Did he find a secret stash somewhere?
Any thoughts on this stuff?
