Well I'm taking the plunge... I actually love my sporto, but I also love the HP of the 2.7RS engine I built.... And it would appear that the two just don't get a long

The sporto has been making noises of protest and generally begining to play up. Two weekends ago it spat the ring gear off the torque converter requiring the engine to be pulled to be fixed.
Grady Clay has been brilliant offering me some solutions. I was nearly going replace the old original sporto with a newer 925 version, but all of the ones I found were 3 speed.
Anyway, fellow Pelican Bill Douglas over in New Zealand has come to my aid with the complete gearbox, clutch, crossmember, pedals and shifter ect... needed for a conversion - and at a fair price (even including the stupid taxes and duties to be paid between our countries.... New Zealand IS virtually Australian after all

)
Grady is in the proocess of putting together a "how to" for me, but I am also interested in what you guys who've done the conversion might have come across, particularly those of you with early shells (mine's '69).
I'm particularly interested in drive shafts, metal work in the tunnel, speedometers, and any other "little things" you didn't expect
I've been taking photos and will post a photo essay a bit later - probably when it's complete.
Love to hear you input...
