Curil-T is a non-hardening gasket dope and is not the same as an RTV silicone. Under no circumstances would I use RTV silicone on a cylinder base gasket.
Pelican's got Curil-T. I haven't seen a product of similar characteristics and quality on the shelves at any FLAPS around here, but you may have better luck.
