I agree w/ Dantilla about renting a good one for occasional use. There are basically two different types of sprayers for residential use, the airless and the HVLP. The airless puts on a ton of paint fast, (depending on it's rating/capacity), but generally wastes material through overspray. (Hence their unsuitability for interior work in an occupied house). The HVLP type requires a compressor but is a lot more "surgical", they are used for cabinets/trim/etc...
