When I first saw the S2000 at the 2000 model year car shows, I ordered that part from Honda for my 912E. I was thinking the same thing; maintain the key use, just wire it into the starter circuit.
I sent it back.
The part is cheapo plastic and tacky when it's in your hand. If I could find a nice, polished alum and high-quality example I would do the job. But, the Honda part is pretty cheap. It might weigh three ounces.
I'm not Honda bashing. I have a 94 DOHC del Sol that revs to 8300 RPM and I love it. But, the switch is not a quality part, IMHO.
