Most of the people I know with 914s, including ours do have the kit installed. It tends to magnify any shifting problems and with a tail shifter, you need accuracy not a short throw. I did install some of the heavier shifter springs so you won't catch reverse when shifting 1st to 2nd and installed all new bushings and it shifts well.
