Does anyone know how strict US Customs is about the 72-hour rule for receiving paperwork before export to Canada? (border must get a copy of the title 72 hours before the car is exported).
I'm finding myself in a bit of a jam, because the shipping company is moving TOO FAST!! I just closed the deal on an 83 944, sent money, got a copy of the title, etc. Then fedex custom critical (car shipping arm) calls me today to say they're picking the car up tomorrow, and it'll be delivered to the border on Thursday or Friday!!! (i'm picking it up in the US and trailering it home - easier than bothering with temp titles, insurance, etc) So needless to say I faxed off the title to the border station right away.
So are they really strict with this 72 hours? If they get the fax in the morning (closed at 4 today, fedex called at 5) and we show up Friday afternoon, are they going to refuse to let us cross?
Anyone in Lewiston want to hang on to an unplated, uninsured 944 for the weekend?
Thanks for any ideas!
Chris
