I agree, everyone should have a reasonable expectation to privacy. In a perfect world that would be the norm. Banking, medical records, driving records....etc. We ALL know how private those are....
As one who has been on this list from the beginning I have made friends, sold stuff, bought stuff, bought parts from the provider of this service. As a result my pictures, my bio, my ideals are are open book.
Now late comers are taking advantage of the rules and hiding while trolling for adverse reactions. I feel that the rules need to be changed. As such, I have asked the moderators to require OT posters to disclose their real identities.
This is a public forum. Just as if, so to speak, a public square of the city in which you live.
One would not expect to see an old time public square speaker with a burlap bag over their head or George Will writing under a nom de plume, Rush Limbaugh speaking through a voice masker, or Al Franken with a rubber mask....OK bad example...Franken would need a mask.
Masking ones ID, intimidates others...heck, it bugs the he!! out me. I simply want to know who I am dealing with. Not to hunt down and give a noogie to.....simply to know what's behind the mask.....it also makes people more honest.
Is that too simple?
