Dems will always have racist blacks threatening perceived Uncle Toms such as Clarence Thomas, Condi, Powell to an extent. And I'm sure Alan Keyes didn't sit well with anyone of color in '95.
At the same time, if Republicans en masse choose to criticize this issue regarding Steele's bid, then they should first consider how they've abandoned a portion of their own party, who is representative of the link I posted.
It's a no-win - like gay marriage. If I were part of the GOP, I wouldn't touch this issue with the same ten-foot pole that I wouldn't use to touch gay marriage.
