Oh, I just had this image - you encounter a threat, draw and aim your P7, the threat backs off, you mistakenly release the squeeze-cocker, the threat believes you've just attempted to shoot him but dropped the hammer on a dud round or empty chamber, this enrages or emboldens him, he attacks you, and you end up shooting him unnecessarily. Disregard - it does sound like a remote scenario.
