Vash, I have mildly looked into buying property in China. From what I uderstand, the way it works now is no one outright owns a property free and clear. They get a 99 yr. lease on it. I don't know if that's from the time it was built, changed hands, etc. But since China's banks are saddled with a lot of bad loans and local officials there regularly confiscate land with no payment and no recourse (this is especially bad in the countryside), I'd be weary of spending anymore than you can afford to lose.
