If you put it in a standard bug, you will be disappointed with the handling. I had a super beetle for many years prior to the 914, loved the handling, but was not enthused about the power. There are issues unique to the super beetle, but nothing insurmountable. You can get a decent 914 roller for pretty cheap, which is the direction I would go, you already have a parts car
